Tax Manager

Joining Churchgates directly from school in July 2011 as a tax assistant, I have worked through the ranks progressing to Manager in Churchgates’ tax team.

My main focus is on taxes for private individuals, businesses and business owners, ranging from large capital allowances claims, business restructuring and claims for research and development tax relief. I am also responsible for undertaking share valuations for Churchgates’ corporate clients, when these are required for tax planning or commercial purposes.

Generally speaking, I try to keep solutions to tax issues as simple as possible, as complex convoluted structures often come with unintended consequences, can be difficult (or costly in tax terms) to unwind and are usually very sensitive to changes in tax rules.

During my time at Churchgates, I have helped a broad range of clients with their tax, from advising on large corporate transactions (like the multi-million pound sale of a large local agricultural enterprise to a national FTSE 250 listed PLC) to helping individuals who just need a little guidance on CGT or understanding their PAYE code.

We meet to discuss my details, then within a short space of time my tax returns are calculated and submitted. Communication is always a strong point as I have over the years had many questions, most of which are answered within two days.
